Under the umbrella of the fire department, around 250 experts roll up their sleeves every day to ensure the safety of Offenbachs residents: whether its extinguishing a burning roof truss, providing life-saving assistance in medical emergencies or warding off other dangers such as flooding - the fire department performs a wide range of tasks for the citys society, where nothing works without our team spirit.
Are you Offenbach for your apprenticeship?
Training usually begins once a year in April (depending on demand). The career training lasts a total of 24 months and takes place at the Offenbach professional fire department, other professional fire departments and the Hessian State Fire Brigade School in Kassel.
Training objectives
- 2-year training as a civil servant on revocation, this includes
- Completion of the 24-week basic firefighting course including basic firefighting and tactical training for the operational service of the professional fire department (theory and practice)
- Internship sections in which the tasks of squad leader (1st internship), group leader (2nd internship) and platoon leader (3rd internship) are performed
- Getting to know the tasks of all fire departments
- Training periods in various professional fire departments in Germany
- Career examination for the higher fire department at the end of the preparatory service
- Varied field of work in one of our specialist areas after completing the preparatory service
What you bring with you
- Successful Bachelors degree or a degree recognized as equivalent in a field suitable for the higher fire department
- You are no more than 40 years old at the start of training
- Requirements in accordance with Section 7 of the Civil Service Status Act for appointment as a civil servant
- Very good health and physical fitness as well as unrestricted fitness for operational duty
- A high degree of team spirit and flexibility as well as a sense of responsibility
- Strong communication skills combined with a convincing appearance
- Ability to make decisions and the ability to act in a solution-oriented manner
- Possession of an EU driving license (at least class B)
- Confident knowledge of written and spoken German (at least level C1 CEFR)
Impeccable police clearance certificate
- Current vaccination or immunity against measles
