Université Côte dAzur (UniCa)

Since 1 January 2020, the Université Côte dAzur has been an experimental university, thereby replacing both the Université Nice Sophia Antipolis, founded in 1965, and the Communauté dUniversités et dEtablissements Université Côte dAzur, founded in 2015.

The Université Côte dAzur comprises 17 major academic institutions centred around the historic university core, making it one of Frances ten leading research-intensive universities. There are currently around 35,000 students enrolled.

Course structure

As part of the dual Masters programme, students at the Technical University of Ilmenau spend their third academic semester at UniCa in France. You will write your Masters thesis during the fourth semester in Ilmenau or Nice. You will agree on the topic of your Masters thesis together with your supervisor at the partner university and your home university. Your Masters thesis will be jointly supervised and assessed by both universities.

An overview of the study plan is set out in the study regulations for the IBE programme leading to a Master of Science degree. You will coordinate your specific study plan with Prof. Grebel.

Entry requirements

Admission to the dual degree programme requires you to have successfully completed a bachelors degree in a related subject. In addition to a very good command of English, you will need a good grade point average in the modules relevant to the dual degree programme.

If so, please submit your application – comprising a personal statement, proof of your English language proficiency and your most recent academic transcript – to Prof. Thomas Grebel. The selection and admission of participants to the dual degree programme is carried out by the relevant authorities at TU Ilmenau and the Université Côte dAzur.
