Investment & Valuation Manager Japan 1

To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent

The role will focus on supporting RWEs offshore wind activities in APAC, including Japan and South Korea, by ensuring that projects are bankable from early development stage through to financial close. You will work closely with project teams, lenders, financial advisers, legal advisers, technical advisers, treasury, finance and commercial stakeholders to deliver competitive, robust and executable financing structures. The successful candidate will help define financing strategy, manage adviser interfaces, lead lender engagement, negotiate term sheets and financing documentation, and support financial close on terms aligned with project and bid assumptions.

The position will be based in Tokyo and will operate in a matrix reporting structure. The successful candidate will report locally to the [Head of P&I APAC] in Tokyo, while also reporting to the Head of RWEs centralised Structured Finance team at RWE AG in Essen, Germany. This set-up ensures close alignment with local offshore wind project and investment priorities in Japan and the wider APAC region, while leveraging RWEs central project finance expertise, standards and lender relationships.

About the role

Structure and execute non-recourse project financings for offshore wind projects across the APAC region.

Assess project bankability, including revenue support mechanisms, contractual frameworks, technology, operations, offtake arrangements and financial assumptions.

Advise project and finance teams on lender requirements, financing constraints, risk allocation and value optimisation throughout the project lifecycle.

Develop competitive, bankable financing solutions and aligned financing strategies, including funding sources, lender approach, ECA/multilateral participation, hedging and rating considerations.

Lead project finance due diligence, managing advisers, engaging lenders and incorporating findings into financing structures and documentation.

Conduct lender market soundings to evaluate liquidity, market appetite and the viability of proposed financing structures.

Prepare and manage key financing deliverables, including information memoranda, due diligence packages and financing term sheets.

Coordinate the financing process through to financial close, including bank selection, lender Q&A, credit committee engagement, commitment letters and allocation of bank roles.

Job requirements and experience

Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or a related field.

5+ years of experience in project finance, structured finance, investment banking, corporate finance, financial advisory or infrastructure finance.

Experience within a bank, advisory firm, infrastructure developer, utility, investor or corporate environment.Strong financial modelling skills, including DCF analysis, with advanced Excel proficiency.

Excellent analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills, with the ability to maximise commercial business cases, support shareholder-responsible decision-making and maintain attention to detail in deadline-driven projects, would be a plus.

Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders across cultures, time zones and matrix organisations.

Fluency in Japanese and English (written and spoken) is strongly preferred.

Passion for renewable energy and offshore wind, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced international environment and willingness to travel as required.
