Who are we?

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is a ministerial department of the UK Government, with its number one objective to promote growth. The DBT Germany team is one of the largest in the DBT Europe Region (around 200 staff), working closely with colleagues across departments to accelerate economic growth by improving market access for business and boosting exports and investment. In Germany, DBT is made up of sector-focused teams, with cross-cutting support from the PMO, the Strategic Communications Team, and the Trade Policy and Market Access team.

Main purpose of role:

Senior Trade Advisor, Clean Energy Industries (Berlin): Unlock commercial opportunities for UK clean energy exports to Germany. Focus on renewables, hydrogen, grid, and storage, supporting UK firms to navigate the German market and promoting UK capabilities.

Senior Investment Advisor, Clean Energy Industries (Berlin): Attract high-value German investment into UK clean energy projects. Develop investor pipelines, shape strategy in renewables and emerging technologies, and facilitate cross-border partnerships.

Senior Trade Advisor, Life Sciences (Berlin or Munich): Drive UK-Germany trade and investment in pharmaceuticals, biotech, and MedTech. Build strategic partnerships, support UK exporters, and strengthen the UKs competitive advantage in one of Europes most dynamic sectors.

What Youll do:

Across all three roles, you will:

Develop and implement targeted strategies for your sector.

Conduct market and investor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and barriers.

Build and maintain strong networks with industry, government, and research partners in Germany and the UK.
